On 15 July 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wanchai Pluempanupat, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Kasetsart University, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pitak Chuawong, Assistant Dean for Research, welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Darshil U. Shah from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shah is visiting the Faculty as a Visiting Research Scholar (VRC) under the Visiting Research Scholar programme hosted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wirasak Smitthipong.
In the morning, the Dean, the Assistant Dean for Research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wirasak Smitthipong, and the research team held a discussion with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shah on strengthening academic collaboration under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Kasetsart University and the University of Cambridge. The discussion covered a range of potential collaborative activities, including faculty and student exchanges, joint research, the exchange of academic and educational materials, scientific collaboration, and the dissemination of academic publications, with the aim of expanding future cooperation between the two institutions.
In the afternoon, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Darshil U. Shah delivered a special lecture entitled “Learning Design from Nature: Towards Regenerative Natural Material Innovations” at Room 375, the 45th Anniversary Physical Science Building, Faculty of Science, Kasetsart University.
As part of the visit, on 16 July 2026, the Thai research team, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wirasak Smitthipong, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shah, will visit Charoon Silk Co., Ltd. in Yan Nawa District, Bangkok. The visit is part of a research project on the development of high-performance racing bicycle tires, supported by the International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF), a research collaboration programme between the United Kingdom and Thailand.
The project is supported in the United Kingdom by the British Council, with the University of Cambridge serving as the home institution of the UK research team. In Thailand, the project is funded primarily by the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC), with co-funding from Bangkok Develops Motor Co., Ltd., while Kasetsart University serves as the home institution of the Thai research team.
On 17 July 2026, the research team will visit Bangkok Metropolish Motor Co., Ltd. to observe the company’s racing bicycle tire manufacturing process. As the industrial partner of the project, the company plays an important role in supporting the practical application of the research outcomes and strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.

นอกจากนี้ ในวันที่ 16 กรกฎาคม 2569 ทีมวิจัยฝ่ายไทยนำโดยรองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.วีรศักดิ์ สมิทธิพงศ์ และทีมวิจัย พร้อมด้วย Assoc. Prof. Darshil U. Shah จะเข้าเยี่ยมชมบริษัท จรูญไหมไทย เขตยานนาวา กรุงเทพมหานคร ซึ่งเป็นผู้ผลิตผ้าไหมที่ใช้โครงการวิจัยซึ่งเป็นการพัฒนายางล้อจักรยานแข่งขันประสิทธิภาพสูง โดยได้รับทุน International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF) ความร่วมมือด้านการวิจัยระหว่างสหราชอาณาจักรและประเทศไทย โดยฝ่ายสหราชอาณาจักรประกอบด้วย British Council ในฐานะผู้ให้ทุน และ University of Cambridge ซึ่งเป็นสถาบันต้นสังกัดของนักวิจัยฝ่ายสหราชอาณาจักร ขณะที่ฝ่ายประเทศไทย ประกอบด้วย หน่วยบริหารและจัดการทุนด้านการเพิ่มความสามารถในการแข่งขันของประเทศ (บพข.) ในฐานะผู้ให้ทุนหลัก บริษัท บางกอกพัฒนามอเตอร์ จำกัด ในฐานะผู้ให้ทุนร่วม และมหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ ซึ่งเป็นสถาบันต้นสังกัดของนักวิจัยฝ่ายไทย และในวันที่ 17 กรกฎาคม 2569 จะเยี่ยมชมกระบวนการผลิตยางล้อจักรยานแข่งขันของ บริษัท บางกอกพัฒนามอเตอร์ จำกัด ซึ่งเป็นภาคอุตสาหกรรมผู้ใช้ประโยชน์จากโครงการวิจัยนี้
